Scythia
A traveller in a green cloak looks down from a forested ridge on a lakeside village, ruined towers on the islands beyond, at dawn.

Scythia is in private alpha: making an account takes an invite code.

The game

Remember when the world was the adventure?

When going past the last town meant something, and finding a new place felt like a discovery. When your gear had a history, your skills were earned, and the people you met became part of your story.

Scythia is made in that spirit: one persistent world of many lands, a skill at a time, at your own pace.

No rush to the endgame. The world is the game.

An ink drawing of an old fruit tree with a ladder against it, fields and a village beyond.
Hunting and combat
Every weapon cuts, pierces or crushes, and every creature is weak to one. From deer and wolves to gnoll bands, trolls, wyverns and giants: examine one to see how dangerous it is to you. Fight other players only if you choose: duels now, and open PvP to come for those who declare for the Aegis or the Vanguard.
Exploration
Roads and gorges, crypts below ground, landmarks seen from far off, ships between the ports, and a day of forty-five minutes with its own weather and moons.
Gathering
Fell trees, mine ore and gem veins, forage and fish. Each land grows by its own ecology, and what is cut grows back.
Crafting
Workbench, forge and cauldron. Gear runs from Common to Mythic, and a maker's craftsmanship shows in its name. Arms and armor wear out, and smiths mend them.
Farming and homesteading
Claim your own land, build a house on it, till the ground, and grow crops, herbs and fruit trees.
Trade
Trade hand to hand, or keep a shop of your own in town: a stall, or a row of shopfronts.
Skills by practice
Woodcutting, mining, foraging, fishing, crafting, farming, combat, brewing and survival grow as you do them. Nothing is fixed when your character is made.

Professions

Who will you become?

Not every great story begins with a sword.

Five professions, each a Novice step, two branches and a Master, and past the Master one specialist of your own. Take up what suits you.

  1. I

    The WeaponmasterWarrior · Marksman

Blade and shield, or bow and arrow. Go where others turn back, hunt what they flee, and bring home what only the dangerous places give.

  2. II

    The FrontiersmanHarvester · Survivalist

Fell, mine and forage further out than anyone. Make camp in the wild to heal and rest, and live off the land between the towns.

  3. III

    The ArtisanBlacksmith · Wright

Forge the arms, armor and tools everyone else depends on. Every blade wears down, so a good smith never runs short of work.

  4. IV

    The HomesteaderCultivator · Provisioner

Work your own ground: crops, herbs and orchards, sown, watered and brought in. A quiet life can be every bit as rich as a dangerous one.

  5. V

    The ChymistAlchemist · Apothecary

No spells and no mana: pots brewed at the cauldron and thrown where they are needed. Anyone may throw one, but only a Chymist makes them.

The professions' trees are still being settled during the alpha.

A world shaped by its people

None of them stands alone. A warrior needs a smith, a smith needs ore, an expedition needs pots. No one in Scythia does everything well, and that is the point: the Frontiersman brings in the timber, ore and hides, the Artisan forges them, the Homesteader grows what the Chymist brews, and the Weaponmaster takes it all into the wild, wears it out, and comes back for more.

A respected smith, a known hunter, a prosperous trader or a master of the land: here, accomplishment is not only counted in kills.

These are not paths you must choose. They are lives you may take up.

The world

A world with a past. A future yet unwritten.

Kingdoms rose and fell here long before you came. From the pines of Ithren to the peaks of Ironwold and the sands of Khar'zul, the land is older than anyone now walking it.

Its story is not yours alone. You are one among many on its roads.

The painted map of Scythia: Ithren's forests round Lake Veridis and Aelthar in the middle, the Bracken Coast to the west, Ironwold's mountains to the east, the frozen north, and the desert of Khar'zul across the sea to the south.

In the making

A world in the making.

Scythia is made independently, in the spirit of the worlds that once let us get lost in them, and it changes most days. These are the latest day's notes from inside the game.

Your story has yet to be written.

There are roads you have not walked, places you have not found and people you have not met. Whether you seek adventure, mastery, a fortune, or only a place to call your own, there is room for you.

The world is waiting. What you make of it is up to you.
